As an Australian bride planning a destination wedding at Larnach Castle in Dunedin, I didn’t even know where to begin to look for someone to make our wedding cake. But I have to say, “someone” was looking down on us when we were recommended to speak to Margaret Anne Crawford-Warden at Cakes For All Occasions.
What an absolute delight and a privilege it was to meet Margaret and her husband Russell when we made our “wedding reconnaissance” trip to New Zealand in June last year. She welcomed us into her home like old friends, and fed us all sorts of delicious baked goods to help us work out what we liked. When we finally chose our design, nothing was too difficult or too much trouble.
I received lots of updates from across the sea as our wedding date in January approached, and felt completely confident in Margaret’s abilities. And boy, did she deliver. Hand made peonies atop a duck egg blue, two-tiered masterpiece. And I can tell you that it tasted even better than it looked (if that’s possible!)
We took the left-overs round New Zealand with us on our honeymoon and fed it to many travellers we met along the way, making sure they all knew who had made it so they could place their own orders in the future! Thank you so much Margaret for being such a lovely human being with the most generous heart. You were a very special of a truly magnificent day for us. Anna and Hugh xx
